1964 Ford Mustang
Ford opened up a big new market with the Falcon-based Mustang introduced on April 17, 1964 at the New York World's Fair. The new sporty compact sent people scurrying to Ford showrooms like nothing in years, touching off "Mustang Mania," and Detroit's greatest sales success of the 60's. This ragtop, one of the three debut 1965 models, cost $2,614 with the 101 brake horsepower six and scored amazing sales for a ragtop of 101,945.
