1948 Jaguar Mark IV
Before World War II the Jaguar motor company was called SS Cars. In 1945, in the aftermath of the war, SS Cars changed their name to Jaguar. With the material shortages in England, it was decided to build slightly updated versions of the pre-war designs. The car you see is a 1948 Jaguar Mark IV with a 3 ½ liter six cylinder overhead cam, in-line engine, hypoid rear end and hydraulic 4 wheel brakes. It was completely restored by Max Berryhill and got a 98 rating at the Classic Car Club of America judging in 1987. Clark Gable owned a similar car and became a dedicated Jaguar fan.
